The Texas Hill Country offers incredible natural beauty, an area of beautiful rolling hills and amazing sunsets, and stunning evening skies. This natural beauty draws you to want to remain outdoors. Landscaping around your home can create an environment to be able to expand your living space to a private escape. Proper planning and you can achieve a peaceful surrounding environment custom designed just for you. The Hill Country does offer challenges you need to be prepared for when installing landscaping.
Drainage
Here we have extreme droughts, with occasional flooding. We are in a fairly dry climate, but when it rains it pours. Do you need to think about drainage? Is your home in a position to flood when the next down pour comes? Do you already have erosion issues? In the last several years Garden Fairy has addressed many landscaping problems due to flooding and drainage. Rock borders help hold your garden together under extreme conditions. When you look at the photos here, one thing you don't see is that underneath that rock is well thought out solutions to drainage issues.

This design approach also facilitates the need for a beautiful and organized look to your landscaping, without a lot of maintenance.
Although there are many varieties of cactus, yuccas, and grasses, you are not limited to just these dry land plant choices. Garden Fairy has a vast knowledge of many plant choices specific to the Hill Country.
Once established, you can have a beautiful garden that takes very little water to maintain, in fact these plants thrive and bloom better on a low water schedule.
